Personal Care Services

We offer different levels of care and assistance based on individual needs. Services may include help with activities of daily living (ADLs) like dressing, bathing, grooming and toileting as well as medication management and oversight. And, unlike many other assisted living facilities and personal care communities, we have licensed nurses on site 24/7 to support and nurture our residents.

Maintenance-Free Living Defined

Our residents no longer deal with chores and tasks because we take care of it all so they can spend their time making new friends, building relationships and pursuing things that interest them.

A Full Social Calendar

Life at Charter Senior Living of Towson helps seniors avoid a common problem with living at home – isolation. Here, residents have countless opportunities to connect with friends, family and staff. We offer many options to stimulate and engage their minds and bodies in a safe and comforting environment.

Take a baking or art class (or both). Try gardening. Join clubs and play games. Laugh! Engage! Go outside of our campus and get ice cream, walk in the park, dine at local Towson restaurants, or take a day trip to historic downtown Baltimore.
Quite simply, our residents enjoy a life that’s familiar, fulfilling – and fun. The biggest difficulty our residents have in a day is deciding what not to do.

Peace of Mind

Our residents enjoy their retirement to the fullest because they can breathe easily knowing they’re in a community where it’s easy to live healthily and independently, no matter how health needs may change in the future. Families can let go of the stress of not knowing how their mom or dad is doing. Instead, everyone can focus on enjoying time together and enjoying all life has to offer.

For added peace of mind, our specialized Memory Care program, Flourish℠, is available on site.

A Personalized Approach

What truly elevates Charter Senior Living of Towson from the rest is the personalized approach that stems from care and compassion. Services and programs have been designed with our individual residents in mind, and we constantly seek feedback and ideas from our residents to ensure that life is as engaged and fulfilling as possible.

Like Home – Only Better

Our open floor plans of living, dining, kitchen and activity rooms provide an inviting environment that residents love to call home. Most residents walk out of their apartments and into welcoming common spaces. There are no elevators or endless hallways. Instead, residents enjoy an easy-to-navigate one-story community … it feels like home – only better.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between assisted living and a nursing home?

Overall, the main difference between Assisted Living and care offered in a nursing home is that nursing homes provide medical and personal care in a clinical setting, while Assisted Living primarily provides personal care in a homelike social setting.

Who qualifies for assisted living?

Seniors whose health or well-being requires a higher level of support or those who would benefit from a healthier lifestyle and social engagement are the best candidates for an Assisted Living retirement community.

Most communities conduct a health assessment that follows state regulations to determine what level of care or assistance is best for each individual.

What kind of services does assisted living provide?

Assisted Living communities give older adults personalized care in a residential setting. Most Assisted Living communities – including Charter Senior Living Assisted Living communities – provide services that include:

  • One to three meals a day
  • Monitoring of medication
  • Personal care, including dressing and bathing
  • Housekeeping and laundry
  • Licensed nurse on site 24 hours per day
  • Social and recreational activities
  • Care coordination
  • Assistance with activities and mobility
  • Complimentary transportation

Some Assisted Living communities offer Respite Care or Short-Term Stays. Additionally, some communities offer access to home care services for those who may need more assistance than is provided at the community but who are not yet ready for a skilled nursing care center.

What is the cost of assisted living in Baltimore County, MD?

Genworth Cost of Care Survey 2021 estimates the median monthly rate for assisted living in Baltimore County, MD is $5,000, which breaks down to around $164 per day. To put that into some context, the same survey says a private room in a nursing home will cost around $421 per day ($12,805 per month). Home health aide services average $163 per day.

Assisted Living pricing at Charter Senior Living of Towson starts at $5,995 per month.

Who pays for assisted living?

While your personal health insurance coverage continues and your pharmaceutical coverage continues, Medicare typically doesn’t pay for assisted living. Most Assisted Living residents pay for this kind of care from their personal resources or with help from coverage provided by long-term care insurance. Veterans Aid and Attendance Benefits can help cover the cost for eligible Veterans and surviving spouses who are over age 65.

Is it possible to stay in Short-Term Assisted Living?

Yes. During a Short-Term Stay, guests are provided with the same Assisted Living care services and amenities as permanent community residents.

Does Medicare pay for Short-Term Assisted Living stays?

If outside services (such as rehabilitation) are needed during a resident’s Short-Term Stay in Assisted Living, Medicare coverage would be available to qualifying patients.
